The garden is situated on the Solway Firth and benefits from the Gulf Stream. Visitors can wander through the arboretum on a network of hard and grass paths, which features handerchief trees, soaring douglas firs, beeches, oaks, and a particularly splendid horse chestnut, species rhododendrons and magnolias. Our walled garden, which is undergoing restoration, will be open on the day where refreshments will be served. Rigg Bay, which features an attractive sandy beach, adjoins the arboretum and our wilder woodland walk.
South from Newton Stewart on the A714 and follow signs to Garlieston on B7004. At the first crossroads after passing the village sign go straight across on to the estate road then take the second right up to the pay and display car park.
